The Labour Court recommended on 19 July 2001 that Musgrave Supervalue and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) hold further talks on past productivity for 150 warehouse workers in Dublin and Cork. It said it saw no basis to recommend the union's requested salary increase linked to the change from picking by store to picking by line. The Court also found that annual leave and public holidays were covered by workers' fixed annual salaries under the annualised-hours arrangement, and saw no basis for the union's holiday-pay claim. The union had argued that the arrangement did not pay workers for annual leave.
