The Labour Court recommended that Olympia Theatre and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) accept the new employment terms introduced after a 1995 change of ownership, while the theatre paid Holy Week 1997 at the 1996 rate. The recommendation was signed on 16 July 2001. SIPTU sought triple time for work on specified Holy Week days and double time for a seven-hour public holiday shift. It argued a longstanding agreement still applied and that management had reduced payments in 1997 without consultation. The theatre said staff accepted new terms after receiving severance and being rehired in 1995.
