In 2001, the Labour Court recommended a new company-wide hourly pay scale and steps to resolve outstanding business-change issues in a dispute between Tesco Ireland Limited and Mandate Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommended scale included rates from £4.11 for workers under 18 to £7.52 at point 5, with long-service rates of £7.60 and £7.82. Existing differentials were to remain, and the adjustments were to take effect on acceptance. The recommendation was signed on 5 July 2001.
