In 2001, the Labour Court did not support aligning Jury's Hotel maintenance staff basic pay with construction workers and saw no basis for tool or travel allowances. It recommended that the extra annual-leave claim await the outcome of a general claim then being processed, and that the parties agree on an identity for the workers to address difficulties with the term “Maintenance Operative”. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought pay parity, restored craft titles, extra leave, and tool and travel allowances. Jury's Hotel said it supplied tools and had a distinctive pay structure that included a service charge. The recommendation was signed on 2 July 2001.
