In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that Kilsaran Concrete and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union return to conciliation over pay and conditions. The recommendation was dated 12 February 2001. The unions sought changes to pay, wage-round dates, holiday pay, bonuses, sick pay and pensions for members. The Court said pay and conditions were too far behind those at competitors and recommended phased improvements. It also found the sick pay and pension schemes substantially out of line with standards in comparable employment.
