In 2001, the Labour Court rejected the Communications Workers Union’s claim for a 6% pay increase for staff in five An Post grades. The recommendation was dated 9 February 2001.
The union said an established pay differential had eroded. An Post said the 20% differential set in 1983 remained in place and warned that granting the claim would have significant financial and pay implications. The Court found no evidence to support the claim and was satisfied that the differential remained in place.
