Labour Court recommends £250 settlement in Gazebo Furniture dismissal dispute

In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that Gazebo Furniture & Interiors offer a worker £250 in full and final settlement of claims arising from his departure. The recommendation was dated 30 January 2001. The Court said a manager’s phone call had become heated and abusive and that disciplinary action would have been appropriate. It found the company partly responsible for the misunderstanding, while the worker’s unauthorised absence contributed significantly to what happened.
