The Labour Court recommended against a redundancy package for two Cantrell & Cochrane Ireland workers affected by a distribution change, in a recommendation dated 19 January 2001. The dispute was with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The union proposed keeping the workers on transport duties in Ballyfermot, offering voluntary severance, or negotiating compensation if they moved to indoor shift work. The company proposed relocation to Nangor Road or redeployment to its warehouse; it offered a gross transfer payment of £1,300 each for the site transfer. The Court considered the offer to accommodate the workers at Kylemore Road reasonable and did not recommend a redundancy package.
