The Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann apply its normal disciplinary procedures in a dispute involving a locomotive driver whose work was threatened with withdrawal over rest-day working. The recommendation, dated 13 December 2000, followed the worker’s referral under section 20(1) of the Industrial Relations Act, 1969. The company said the driver was part of a concerted breach of its agreement with recognised unions and that normal procedures did not apply. The Court also declined to recommend applying to the worker the outcome of a process that might follow LCR16647. The worker agreed to be bound by the recommendation.
