The Labour Court recommended that Atari Expo pay a worker £500 in full and final settlement of claims arising from his dismissal. The recommendation was signed on 21 November 2000. The worker said a manager dismissed him while he was carrying out his duties and that he had received no warnings. Atari Expo said it had spoken to him repeatedly about his appearance and that he had received verbal warnings about his attitude and co-operation. The Court said the company may have had reasonable grounds to question the worker’s suitability, but found serious procedural deficiencies, including the lack of an adequate disciplinary procedure, clear recorded warnings and notice of dismissal. It recommended the £500 severance payment.
