The Labour Court recommended that Classic Marketing pay a worker £600 in full and final settlement of her unfair dismissal claim, after finding that a genuine redundancy situation existed. The recommendation was dated 5 October 2000. The worker said she was dismissed when she returned from sick leave, although the company had told her her job would be available. She also said temporary workers later did some of her work and that a purchasing officer was appointed to a post she was qualified to fill. Classic Marketing said losses and restructuring led it to reduce the number of sales co-ordinators, and that no suitable alternative job was available.
