The Labour Court recommended that pay-rise dates for staff in the Irish office of the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association match the June and October 1999 dates for comparator grades in CIE. It did not recommend conceding the claim for lump-sum payments. The recommendation was signed on 20 September 2000. The union sought the same benefits as the comparator grades, including lump sums of £1,600 to £2,000. Management argued that those payments were part of a productivity deal that did not cover Irish office staff.
