The Labour Court recommended that Iarnrod Eireann pay a resident crossing keeper a £250 lump sum in full settlement of her claim over a pay reduction. The recommendation, involving the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, was signed on 17 August 2000. The company reduced her pay by £12.23 a week after a second worker was assigned to provide eight hours of relief, leaving her to cover 16 hours. The Court found no evidence of a precedent for keeping the same pay after responsibilities changed, but was not satisfied the company had refuted her understanding that something would be done for her.
