The Labour Court recommended that Cork Corporation and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union set aside about four weeks to present and discuss contractor plans, then refer disputed issues to a third party. The recommendation was signed on 8 August 2000. The dispute concerned a 1996 agreement on the Corporation’s use of contractors and notice to the union. The Court said the union had no veto, but the Corporation could not implement disputed proposals before a third-party decision. It said the Corporation should present its programme, discuss and clarify it, then implement it subject to referral of disputed items.
