The Labour Court could not recommend conceding a union claim to continue a sick pay scheme for five Manor Chemists workers. The recommendation was signed on 23 May 2000. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the scheme had provided ten weeks' full pay with a doctor's certificate before the present owner took over in April 1998. Manor Chemists said no scheme was operating. The Court cited conflicting evidence about the previous arrangements and said there was no confirmation that a sick pay scheme had operated before the transfer.
