In 2000, the Labour Court recommended that evaluator Des Casey nominate a pay linkage grade for college nurses at seven Institutes Of Technology. The recommendation was dated 18 May 2000. The Irish Nurses Organisation had sought pay alignment, standardised conditions and permanent, pensionable employment; the Institutes Of Technology offered links to general nursing grades. The Court could not recommend extending employment into summer when work did not exist, but recommended further discussion as activity and working hours might increase.
