The Labour Court recommended that Tesco Ireland Limited and Mandate identify losses to back-store managers from a move to centralised distribution and agree an appropriate ex-gratia payment for each affected manager. The recommendation was dated 19 April 2000. The dispute involved about 170 staff, including 76 chargehands, and also covered redeployment and a productivity payment. The Court recommended local discussions about redeployment where needed, but did not recommend conceding the productivity claim, finding the changes were covered by the Building our Future agreement.
