In 2000, the Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for percentage pay increases over the period the Loctite Ire Ltd company-union agreement had overrun. The Court recommended mediation with an independent chairman and said suitable compensation should form part of renegotiating the agreement. Loctite Ire Ltd cited cost pressures and proposed a one-off payment. The Court recommended that discussions be completed within three months of its 30 March recommendation.
