In 2000, the Labour Court did not recommend that Tralee Urban District Council concede a pay-grade claim brought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for two workers. The Court considered the General Services Supervisor grade inappropriate for their posts, having regard to local-authority grading structures. The union argued that the workers' pay should match the revised grade; the Council said their existing rates and duties did not support that alignment. The recommendation was dated 29 March.
