In 2000, the Labour Court recommended that the Irish Aviation Authority keep the second phase of its new Data Assistant pay scale at 1 January 2001, subject to review, and adjust three proposed salary points.
The dispute with the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union concerned when the new scale should take effect and how experienced staff would be placed on it. The union cited recruitment and retention, additional workloads and Flight Data Control duties. The Authority said its pay increases and allowances were reasonable and raised concerns about industrial action during a continuity agreement.
The Court recommended changing three proposed salaries: £14,863 to £15,429, £15,995 to £16,561, and £16,561 to £17,127.
