The Labour Court recommended improved sick pay terms for staff at Waterford Probation Hostel. The recommendation was dated 27 March 2000. The Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union sought more generous cover than the hostel’s offer of four weeks’ full pay and four weeks’ half pay, both less Social Welfare. The Court recommended six weeks at full pay followed by six weeks at half pay, also less Social Welfare. It also recommended up to six months’ full pay in a year for an employee with excellent attendance over several years who becomes incapacitated by serious illness or injury.
