The Labour Court recommended that Fine Art Limited increase its voluntary redundancy package for 15 craft employees, including five plate-makers and 10 printers, to statutory redundancy entitlement, three weeks’ pay per service year and payment in lieu of notice. The overall package would be capped at £40,000 per employee. The recommendation was dated 10 March 2000. The Graphical, Paper And Media Union had sought four and a half weeks’ pay per service year. The Court noted the company’s need to restructure and the difficulties redundant employees could face in the specialised printing industry.
