In 2000, the Labour Court recommended that 47 former Dublin District Milk Board staff accept Department Of Agriculture And Food’s proposal for a confined competition to regularise their positions in the Civil Service. The Department also agreed to waive the five-year service requirement for pension eligibility for the claimants. The Court recommended that seniority, reckonable service and PRSI issues be discussed with all interested parties after the claimants’ positions were regularised. The union, Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had sought no loss on redeployment. The recommendation was signed on 26 January 2000.
