The Labour Court recommended that a claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for equal overtime opportunities for Limerick Corporation’s seven spare-crew workers should not be conceded. Its recommendation was dated 22 November 1999. The union sought equal opportunities when public holidays fell on a Monday and the regular crews worked the preceding Saturday. Limerick Corporation argued that its 1996 agreement covered Monday-to-Friday work only. The Court found that the agreement excluded earnings for Saturday operations.
