The Labour Court recommended that Tech Industries Limited backdate a 3% PESP payment to 1 January 1999 and increase the indexed tool allowance to £100 a year from January 1999. The recommendation was dated 19 November 1999. The Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union sought to backdate the payment to 1993, along with changes to basic pay, bonuses and the tool allowance. The company cited trading losses and offered a payment from March 1999 and an indexed tool allowance of £80 a year. The Court cited the absence of written documentation for the alleged 1993 commitments when recommending changes to the company’s offer.
