The Labour Court recommended £10,000 compensation and a suitable reference for a worker it found was unfairly dismissed by the Meningitis Research Foundation. The recommendation was signed on 17 November 1999.
The dispute followed the worker’s dismissal over a time-off-in-lieu form. He said it was not completely accurate but denied deliberately falsifying it. The Court found the form-filling issue did not warrant dismissal, noting that the method had previously been haphazard and lacking in detail.
