In 1999, the Labour Court recommended further talks between Sligo County Council and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on firefighters’ roster, on-call and residency claims. The recommendation was dated 12 October 1999. The Court accepted that the claims had some merit, but said operational and cost implications needed to be addressed before it could recommend that they be conceded. Unresolved matters could be referred back to the Court.
