The Labour Court recommended, following a dispute referred by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, that a childcare worker at Finglas Children's Centre accept management’s proposals after being returned from team leader to childcare grade. The Court said management should actively assist him to address its concerns about his performance and review the situation in 18 months. The recommendation was dated 30 September 1999. The Centre said the worker had struggled with leadership responsibilities and procedures. The union said the demotion was unfair and that he was willing to learn. The Court accepted management’s concerns but was concerned that the worker had not received sufficient training or warning.
