In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that Kerry Mental Health Association (Southern Health Board) begin discussions with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on three workers’ pay and conditions, with a view to securing permanent status. It also recommended addressing relief work and seniority, and formalising the Southern Health Board’s offer of relief work to two workers. The union had sought permanent employment, incremental credit and extra work. The Court found the Association was the employer and noted it did not attend the hearing. The recommendation was dated 8 July 1999.
