The Labour Court recommended increasing the Mid-Western Health Board - Croom Hospital's compensation offer to 13 nurses affected by the transfer of orthopaedic services. It said late-back compensation should be based on 1997–1998, and that the parties should urgently agree a roster. The recommendation was signed on 4 May 1999. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Irish Nurses Organisation had sought compensation for lost weekend premiums, on-call allowances and late-back payments; the Court rejected their request for the Castlerea formula.
