The Labour Court recommended that Western Health Board and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union follow their agreed written procedures when filling nursing posts, after finding the appointment to a post at Westport Community Hospital breached those procedures. The recommendation was dated 27 April 1999. The dispute arose after a nurse was appointed at Westport without advertising the post. The union said the appointment breached agreed procedures; management rejected that claim. After the hearing, the Board appointed the worker to a job-sharing post in Claremorris.
