The Labour Court recommended that concessions agreed for other groups transferring after the closure of Fitzgerald Barracks should also apply to two civilian general operatives moving from Fermoy to Kilworth Camp. The recommendation was dated 23 March 1999. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought compensation for the workers’ increased travel costs and time. The Department Of Defence said civilian employees’ terms allowed redeployment and argued that the same payment criteria used for military personnel should apply. The Court said management’s information made it difficult to assess the agreement and recommended applying the other groups’ concessions to the two workers.
