In 1999, the Labour Court recommended changes to Cadbury Ireland Limited's Vision 2000 proposals after a dispute with Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union. The Court recommended a 9.75% increase over 39 months, additional payments for several grades, exit terms for 10 production employees and adjustments to shift guarantees. The unions had sought higher pay and restoration of the differential with craft rates. Cadbury Ireland Limited argued that the differential had not been disturbed and a large additional increase would threaten competitiveness. The recommendation was dated 22 March 1999. The Court said the craft annualised-hours rate could not fairly be compared with basic pay, but further production pay improvements were warranted for agreement on Vision 2000.
