In 1999, the Labour Court recommended further discussions between Progressive Genetics Co-Op Society Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union about pay scales and annual leave. The recommendation was dated 15 March 1999. The union sought a review of pay scales for seven or eight workers and an increase in annual leave from 20 to 23 days. Progressive Genetics said its grading changes had increased pay and the claims would raise costs. The Court said discussions should consider comparable pay, the employment's economic circumstances and the skills required, and address the annual leave claim. If no agreement was reached by 1 June 1999, the matter could return to the Court.
