In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that C & C (Ireland) Limited make every effort to find suitable alternative employment for a worker, with retraining if needed. The recommendation was dated 15 March 1999. The worker's union said his employment had been continuous since 1988 and sought permanent status. C & C said he worked in a temporary position and proposed an extended contract and redundancy. The Court said alternative employment had not been fully explored and found the worker had built up entitlements under the Unfair Dismissals Acts 1977–1993 and Redundancy Payments Acts 1969–1991.
