In 1999, the Labour Court recommended higher pay rates for workers at Drogheda Omniplex, accepting the company's proposal to align rates with those in Clonmel and Tralee. The recommendation was dated 11 March 1999. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought a minimum rate of £5 an hour, arguing that many workers had low earnings and worked unsocial hours without a premium. The company cited operating costs and offered to increase the basic rate to £3.35. The Court recommended applying the increase from 1 January 1998 and increasing the Abbey show rate by the relevant percentages.
