The Labour Court recommended that Sisters Of La Sagesse Services concede the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union’s claim for pay parity for 61 care and nursing assistants at Cregg House, Sligo. The recommendation was dated 9 March 1999. The Court found no justifiable reason for the workers’ pay to remain below that of care assistants at comparable agencies. It recommended that the adjustment take effect from 1 April 1998. Sisters Of La Sagesse Services said Department of Health funding meant it could not act without the department’s approval.
