The Labour Court recommended a settlement of a dispute between Allied Signal and the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union over pay, an incentive plan and working time at the Wheel Plant. Its recommendation was dated 2 March 1999. The Court recommended a 2% basic pay increase from acceptance and the introduction of the company’s incentive plan. The £5.50 weekly interim payment would remain as a fallback if production targets were not met. After three months, the parties should review the scheme: if targets were met, the company should not pursue buzzer-to-buzzer working; if they were not, the union would accept it. The Court also recommended a further 2% basic pay increase from 1 July 1999 under Partnership 2000 terms.
