The Labour Court recommended that Hammond Lane Metal Co Ltd increase its offer to £375 in full and final settlement of relocation claims. The recommendation was signed on 19 February 1999. The company had offered general operatives £165 to move from Sir John Rogersons Quay to Pigeon House Road, Ringsend. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the relocation caused financial loss, hardship and a worse working environment. The Court said health and safety concerns should be handled through appropriate channels rather than as a compensation claim.
