In 1999, the Labour Court recommended disturbance payments for qualifying W.M.G. Ltd workers after the company moved from Togher to Churchfield in Cork. The recommendation followed a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, which represented about 66 workers. The Court recommended £250 gross for south-side workers with more than one year's service and £125 gross for those with less than a year. It said service should be calculated from the move date, 5 January 1998. The company had cited losses and difficult trading, while the union pointed to workers' cooperation with the move, including long hours over Christmas 1997.
