The Labour Court found Liebert International B.V.’s interview and appointment procedures for a maintenance fitter post were subjective and unprofessional, but said compensation was not appropriate. Its recommendation was dated 2 March 1999. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said a qualified fitter with 15 years’ service had been passed over twice and sought compensation. Liebert said it selected another applicant for his technical ability, hands-on experience and suitability for the maintenance team. The Court recommended that the company seek professional advice to establish new procedures and help the worker devise a career plan.
