In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Aer Rianta reject the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for £1,500 compensation for each of 230 Airport Police and Fire Service members affected by construction work at Dublin Airport. The Court found consultation with the union adequate, health and safety professionally managed and problems dealt with quickly. It said reasonable steps had been taken to minimise inconvenience and noted the workers spent only part of their time in affected areas because they worked on a rotation. The Court signed its recommendation on 23 November 1998.
