In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Dun Laoghaire Community Training Workshop pay a relief catering instructor redundancy compensation of twice her statutory entitlement, inclusive of that entitlement. The Court found her employment was continuous across successive fixed-term contracts, establishing a right to redundancy payment. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had also sought notice pay and outstanding holiday pay after her final contract expired on 29 May 1998. The Court found she had been given notice when told on 8 April that her contract would not be renewed, so no pay in lieu of notice was due. The recommendation was dated 20 November 1998.
