The Labour Court recommended that Mandate accept the Turf Club Of Ireland's proposal to make the Senior Steward Secretary available for an unlimited number of Sunday meetings if required. A 1993 agreement capped required Sunday work at 25 days. The Club said Sunday fixtures had increased by 91% and it needed flexibility in staffing important meetings. The Court accepted the post was a senior management position and said the salary for the new appointee should reflect the changed requirement. The recommendation was dated 22 October 1998.
