Labour Court does not find worker unfairly dismissed by Ballymount firm

The Labour Court did not find that a worker was unfairly dismissed by Ballymount Precision Engineering Limited. The recommendation, dated 13 October 1998, followed the worker’s claim that his dismissal during probation was unfair because it was without notice. The company said the worker had been absent several times without notifying it and had been told he could have a colleague present at the meeting. The Court also recommended that the company revise its interview form to explain absence reporting and disciplinary procedures, and ensure employees receive a copy of their employment contracts.
