In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Asahi Ireland Limited pay an unnamed former worker £850 in severance. It found that a commitment had been made to her during final negotiations, although the general agreement excluded employees who left before production ceased. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union pursued the claim. The company did not attend the hearing but sent a statement setting out its position. The recommendation was dated 2 September 1998.
