The Labour Court recommended that Foodpak Ireland Limited increase its offer to a worker dismissed from his machine operative job from one week’s pay in lieu of notice to two weeks’ pay, in full and final settlement. The recommendation was dated 25 August 1998. The worker said he was unfairly dismissed and proper procedures were not followed. The company said he had left work early after being warned and breached its rules. The Court found conflicting accounts of the events and said both sides might be correct in their interpretation.
