Labour Court declines to recommend full house parent pay parity

In 1998, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for full-rate pay for house parents at An Breacadh Nua, Ard Aoibhinn Centre. The Centre paid house parents at 80% of the rate for qualified house parents with the Board. The Court said funding and comparability meant it was not justified in recommending concession. It also said the union's sleepover and Saturday/Sunday overtime issues required further conciliation. The recommendation was signed on 13 August 1998.
