In 1998, the Labour Court recommended that Flogas Ireland Limited's options be accepted in a dispute with the Marine, Port And General Workers' Union over mileage rates for two sales representatives using private cars for work. The company's options included providing company cars, converting the representatives' cars to LPG, or helping them find cheaper insurance. The union argued motoring costs had risen and the representatives preferred their own cars and insurance. The Court considered the options reasonable, saying they could significantly reduce or eliminate the extra costs the representatives said they incurred. The recommendation was signed on 6 July 1998.
