The Labour Court found Highlighters Limited was the employer of 76 demonstration staff working in the Superquinn supermarket chain. It recommended that the company concede Mandate’s claim for a one-week Christmas bonus when Partnership 2000 expired. Mandate had argued that Superquinn should be named as the employer on official documents and sought the bonus for the staff. Highlighters said it was a separate legal entity and argued that Partnership 2000 precluded the claim. The Court dated its recommendation 29 June 1998.
